Bio-Energy therapy was introduced to the UK approximately seven years ago by Maire Dennhofer. Maire had suffered for a long while following a car accident and a subsequent unsuccessful operation to relive the pain in her neck. Her sister, who is a nurse in Ireland, was training at the time in Bio-Energy and invited Maire over to try this wonderful therapy. Maire was so impressed with the results she witnessed at the clinic that she decided then and there that it must come to the UK. Immediately on her return to the UK Maire set about promoting the therapy. The television and newspapers were enormously supportive and following this exposure the requests for therapy poured in. Therapists were flown in from Ireland and in the first year the teams travelled forty four thousand miles holding four day therapy clinics throughout the land.
Maire was convinced that this therapy should be available to everyone and held a vision that permanent Bio-Energy clinics would eventually be situated in every major city. These would be manned by therapists who would be prepared to give a percentage of their time free to those who could not afford to pay for the therapy.
Acutely conscious of the need for ongoing support for therapists after training, and the necessity to create a self-regulating and responsible body to gain the respect of other health professionals Marie and Michael DAlton (a Bi-Aura trainer) set about establishing a Foundation. The first requirement was to establish an identity, and as the term Bio-Energy is used for anything from plant food to other, quite different therapies, the trademark Bi-Aura was registered.
The www.bi-aura.com website was created and therapists were invited to join The Bi-Aura Foundation.
Only members of the Bi-Aura Foundation are entitled to use the Bi-Aura logo, trademark and promotional material. And each member agrees to adhere to the Bi-Aura code of conduct, ethics and practice. Failure to do so can risk termination of membership. This ensures that when client referrals are made to members of the Foundation, clients will receive a consistently high level of treatment. This accountability is necessary to achieve greater public credibility and move towards greater co-operation and respect from the mainstream of medical practice.
The Complementary Medical Association has recognised the Bi-Aura Foundation, Therapy and Training and is very supportive of the direction the Foundation is taking. The Foundation is also a member of the British Complementary Medical Association.
